Bechterew’s Disease
Bechterew's Disease (Ankylosing spondylitis, Latin: morbus Bechterevi), named after the Russian neurologist Vladimir Bechterew, is a chronic inflammatory illness particularly affecting the spinal vertebrae, which occurs in up to 1 % of the population. It afflicts men 2-3 times for often than women; the first symptoms generally appear between 18 and 30 years of age.

For this group of patients therapy lasts for 28 days and focuses on maintaining spinal dynamics and the movement stereotypes of the patient. After an initial examination, depending on the patient’s condition, there are daily physiotherapeutic exercises supervised by well-trained physiotherapists – such as individual therapeutic physical exercises, as well as forms of group physical exercises – breathing, conditioning, using balls, exercises in the pool. One integral aspect of balneation is the application of peat baths and compresses, classic massages, various types of baths – e.g. strawberry, comfrey, pearl, hydromassage, etc. The therapy is supplemented with structured physical therapy methods - thermotherapy, magnetotherapy, solux, etc.
Average number of procedures per day: 3-4 depending on the patient’s condition and tolerance.
