Frequently asked questions

Do you use “mud” to treat rheumatism?

Certainly. The natural source of healing used in our spa is ferro-sulphurous marsh peat which comes from Bělohrad.

Do you also treat back pains?

Yes, we do. These ailments are covered by the following diagnoses:
VI/3 – vertebrogenic root syndromes (comprehensive spa care as recommended by a neurologist or physiotherapist, subsidised care at the recommendation of a general practitioner)
VII/12 - Vertebrogenic algic syndromes of functional or degenerative origin, systematically treated (comprehensive spa care as recommended by a neurologist or physiotherapist, subsidised care at the recommendation of a general practitioner)

How are the areas for individual exercises set aside in your spa?

Every physiotherapist here has his or her own exercise room fitted with an electric manipulation couch and physiotherapeutic equipment.

What does it mean when I’ve been recommended a flask massage?

This means that the massage uses a glass flask with a rubber bulb (suction). This technique improves perfusion, warms up the massaged area and has a beneficial effect on sensitive and painful places.

Is it possible to do yoga at the spa?

We don’t practise yoga as such. We just use certain elements of yoga, such as to practise focused breathing.

In the brochure I saw some exercises on large balls. What problems do these exercises help?

Exercising on large gymnastics balls is part of individual exercise and helps to alleviate vertebrogenic ailments.

What opportunities for sports does the spa offer?

In summer you can use the tennis courts in Bažantnice park, the minigolf course, or you can hire mountain bikes. In the spa itself there is a sauna and pool table.

Is your pool also good for normal swimming?

Basically you can swim in any slightly larger pool. The one we have had since autumn 2003 is a physiotherapy pool, measuring 10 x 20 metres, equipped with massage jets, an underwater bench with an aerator, etc. The temperature is around 29-30 °C.

Do you cook diet meals?

We cook gall-bladder, reduction, diabetic, and low-cholesterol food, as well as diets individually tailored to suit the needs of our clients.

Is it possible to have accommodation and procedures all under one roof at your spa?

Yes, we offer this at the Hotel Grand, which is primarily used to accommodate guests who have had hip-replacement operations, etc. In November 2008 the individual hotels were all linked up by covered walkways.

Is there an exchange office in the spa?

Yes, there is an exchange office in the reception of the Hotel Grand.

What is there to do after my procedures? Do you organise any trips around the local area?

The spa regularly organises concerts, lectures, and dance evenings. There are plenty of sports available (tennis, cycling, walking). We organise trips in the surrounding area using our own minibus.
