Dominik Hašek
“Peat compresses are good for the joints,” confirms goalkeeper Dominik Hašek, who prepared for the new NHL hockey season in the peaceful surroundings of Lázně Bělohrad and Nová Paka.
How did you hear about the spa in Lázně Bělohrad? My trainer Josef Bruk and I train in Nová Paka and as Lázně Bělohrad is nearby we decided to supplement my training by some physiotherapy in the local spa. How would you rate the spa procedures? I have various paraffin and peat compresses put on my joints and I can feel that it helps them after twenty of thirty years of top hockey. I was going to recommend the spa to anyone, I’d advise them to visit out of season or when they are not training. But even during full-time training I feel that the procedures loosen me up and have a beneficial effect. Have you used any of the spa’s sports facilities or the sports grounds in the town? I’ve seen the minigolf from my window, and I think it must be great fun for spa guests to play minigolf after their treatment. But while we were in Bělohrad we focused just on spa therapy; we use facilities such as the gym and squash courts in Nová Paka. The terrain here is great for mountain-biking, with hills all over the place. The countryside’s beautiful too. Will we see you again in Lázně Bělohrad a.s.? Definitely, although I can’t say when, as next time my wife will probably be coming too, as I’ve recommended the spa here to her.

Why did you choose Lázně Bělohrad a.s.? They have a great individual approach to their patients, they’re all very obliging and if a certain procedure isn’t right, they change it for another one. The catering is excellent, the countryside beautiful, there are plenty of cultural and sports facilities, the pool, tennis, minigolf… Before, I used to go to the spa in Kunratice. But here it’s obvious that the management takes good care of the spa. I started to put my trust in the doctors and staff, and I feel very good here. Last year you said that you’d prescribe yourself a session at the spa every six months. What’s your conclusion this year? I‘d change it to every three months. It really is excellent here… What’s your favourite procedure? I like the new one – the hydroxeur. You lie down in the bath, countless jets of water massage your whole body while coloured lights flash. It’s a very pleasant atmosphere. A month is a long time for an actor who’s used to the active lifestyle. What do you do when you’re not having treatment? For the first two weeks I cycled around and visited friends, I did a little work, I prepared my schedule for the next month, and I checked my accounts via my mobile. Now I have more time to myself, I play minigolf… I know I can’t avoid the operation, so I’m just getting into the right frame of mind for it.

Recollection
I came across your web site by chance. They reminded me of all the times I stayed in the children’s clinic at your spa. It’s nice to remember those happy times in the little school and a I especially recall the sensitive and caring manner of the nurses, tutors and doctors. The feeling of being at home, the sense of well-being, of decency. That all-important human element, which can’t be taught, but comes from within. In June I was treated at your spa. I really appreciated the attitude of your staff, when I was making the booking and for the whole three weeks of my stay. I experienced nothing but willing and professional staff. It’s obvious that the staff have been well trained to create a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. Not only did they do all their duties, but they gave it that bit extra. I never saw any inappropriate behaviour. Perhaps you believe that a good attitude to your patients, especially the older ones, is something to be taken for granted. In my experience, however, I can say that this is not something to be taken for granted. I’ve been in some world-famous spas, but the conduct of the staff there was deplorable. So I appreciate it all the more than I had the chance to be treated by you. If I ever have to go to a spa again for mobility treatment, I’ll do everything I can to make sure it’s with you.
